Daughter of Jack & Nora (Abbott) Tetschner.
Married to Clarence BirchDorothy wrote about their wedding: "We chose June 30, 1946 as our wedding day. It was a very hot, windy day. Mom wouldn't open any windows, as she was afraid dust would blow in. I made a wooden frame and put chicken wire over it. I had friends make greenery and crape paper roses to weave into the chicken wire. There was a hill covered with pink wild roses near my parent's house. I went out in the wind and heat, and picked lots of those to weave in amongst the artificial flowers, to make the backdrop for the ceremony. My parents also didn't have electricity or an indoor bathroom, so we were probably all pretty sweaty.

My parents had a large house, 14 rooms counting 3 or 4 in the basement, and all of the cubby holes upstairs. We had a large archway between the living room and the parlor, so people could sit in both rooms with a good view of the ceremony. Mom always had a piano, which they slanted near a bedroom doorway, and the singers stood in the doorway. The singers were friends of mine, who were twins, Doris and Dorothy Rhode. The minister that performed the ceremony was Rev. B. F. Corell, from my church, and his wife played the piano. Clarence Davenport, and Vernell Donner were our attendants. People told us later that Clarence Davenport stood with his hands behind his back and sweat was dripping off his fingers. I cried throughout the wedding and I must have looked a mess.
I had always thought that no one should see the bride before the ceremony. One family came at least an hour early, so Vernell and I hid out in a closed bedroom. Vernell was very unconcerned, and read comic books to occupy her time. I was sitting on the bed sweating. Two of the main gifts I remember getting was a kerosene lamp and a kerosene lantern, which were much needed gifts.
My brother Gerald was our ring bearer and my cousin, Sherill Dietrick was our flower girl. They were both 9 years old."

Dorothy and Clarence raised one daughter Susan, and four boys; Dale, Dean, Lee and Dwaine.
