Thomas Wesley Hanners of Kellyton passed away December 14, 2014 at the age of 100 at Chapman Nursing Home in Alexander City.

The funeral service will be at Curtis and Son North Chapel Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Kellyton Cemetery. The Rev. Betty Bishop is officiating. Visitation will be at Curtis and Son North Chapel Tuesday December 16, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

For many years, Mr. Hanners was know as “the potato man” because he sold sweet potatoes on Hwy 280 in Kellyton. He was a longtime resident of Kellyton. Mr. Hanners owned and operated the Frances Metal and Service Station. Mr. Hanners enjoyed laughing, joking and teasing with everyone he came in contact with.

Mr. Hanners is survived by daughters Betty (Larry) Wilson, Edna (Herbert) Hardman, and Frances (Carl) Nelson; a son Thomas (Judy) Hanners. Mr. Hanners is also survived by a host of precious grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two loving wives, Lucille Hanners and Marie Hanners; one son, Talmadge Hanners and a daughter, Evelyn Moncrief.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chapman’s Healthcare for the excellent care and attention given their Father.

Special thanks to good friends, Merle Browning, Agnes Baughn and Betty Bishop.

Pallbearers are Benny Ficquette, Joe Ficquette, Tucker Wilson, Eric Hanners, Allen Peek and Scott Jordan.
