"William D. Dean passed away early Wednesday morning, November 16, at the residence of his son-in-law, Fred Van Ness, at Franklinville…William Doughty Dean was born August 19, 1829,at Tyrone, Schuyler county, N.Y., the oldest son of Horace and Euphemia Doughty Dean. He was one of a family of five brothers and six sisters, Of these, only three survive: Mr. D.A Dean of Ontario, Cal.; Mrs. Jane Stillwell of Reynoldsville, N.Y., and Mrs. Clara Reynolds of Tyrone, N.Y. January 12, 1854, he was married to Ann Maria Ketchum of Barrington, N.Y. One son, Frederick C. Dean of Rochester, and two daughters, Mrs. F.A. Loveridge of Cuba and Mrs. Fred Van Ness of Franklinville, survive. Mrs. Dean passed away at Cuba in 1903….For 38 years Mr. Dean resided near North Urbana, N.Y., being one of the successful farmers of that neighborhood. The later years of his life he had passed mostly with his daughters….Burial was at Cuba cemetery beside his wife, the service at the grave being in charge of the Rev. Mr. Carter."
