Services for Nephi H. Newbold, 77, 306 Kearney, Caldwell, who died Thursday night at a Boise hospital, were conducted today at the Second Ward Chapel of the L.D.S. Church by Bishop Albert B. Stettler.
Interment was at Canyon Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1896 in Downey, where he was reared and educated. He moved to Wilder in 1917 and married Ellen Cannon on Aug. 28, 1918, in Caldwell. He served in the Navy during World War I and was stationed in Seattle.
After the war he farmed in Wilder and later in the Rupert and Heyburn area. In 1943 he went to Salt Lake City and worked at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot in Ogden until his retirement in 1958. He and his family moved to Caldwell in 1972.
He was a high priest in the L.D.S. Church.
Survivors include his wife of Caldwell; three daughters, Rosella Boyenger, Boise, Ruby Goodin, Caldwell, and Wilma Brown, Boise; two sons, Gerald H. Newbold, Caldwell, and Melvin L. Newbold, Kent, Wash.; four sisters, Esther Sleight, New Plymouth, and Orthella, Elaine and Zino, all in Utah; a brother, Milton Newbold, Portland; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
