FOX LAKE - Edwin Richard Hafenstein, 80, formerly of Randolph, died on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at his home in Fox Lake.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m., at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 415 W. Main St., Waupun. The Rev. Michael L . Wild will officiate. Burial will follow in Lost Lake Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 215. Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Edwin was born on Feb. 14, 1924 in Burnett, the son of Albert and Emma (Seeman) Hafenstein.

Edwin attended England School in rural Randolph. He served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a member of the U.S. Army, and loved to share his war experiences with others. Edwin worked as a milk hauler for many years, hauling cans for Carnation. He then worked as a mechanic for Stokely Van Camp for 15 years and then at Larson's Canning Factory for 10 years. Edwin was a member of the American Legion Post 215. He enjoyed bowling and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mabel, Fox Lake; one son, Edwin A. Hafenstein, Beaver Dam; one sister, Sylvia Gutzman, Randolph; three sisters-in-law, Joan Miller, Beaver Dam, Jean (Wayne) Bahr, Fall River, and Barbara (Jim) Harrigan, Ripon; two brothers-in-law, James (Bev) Searvogel, Sheridan, Ark., and Robert (Scharlen) Searvogel, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Esther Hafenstein, Ruby Bahr Birkenstock, and Frieda Hafenstein; two brothers, Clarence (Florine) Hafenstein and Albert in infancy; five brothers-in-law, Orice Gutzman, Morris Bahr, Oscar Birkenstock, Harley Miller and Frances Neuman, and two sisters-in-law, Isabelle Neuman and Helen Searvogel.

A memorial fund is being established for the American Cancer Society.
