Sarah Ann McAboy was born in Culpepper County, Va. on Nov. 4, 1820 and was the 2nd of 8 children. She came to Ohio with her parents when quite young and the family stopped in the Buckeye state until 1834, when they moved to McLean Co, IL., making their home in Bloomington for awhile.
The subject of this sketch was married to Fletcher B. Goddard, April 30, 1837. One son resulted from this union, Charles F. B. Goddard, who died at the early age of 17. Her husband died in 1870 and was buried in Lexington. She contracted a 2nd marriage with Dr. C. T. Gray, on Feb. 13, 1875. He died in March of1898.
Mrs. Gray became a Christian early in life and joined the M. E. church in Lexington of which she continued to be a consistent member until her death. She was an invalid for number of years prior to her death and was constantly confined to the house.
She became a resident of Lexington over 50 years ago, and has a wide circle of friends in this community as well a large number of relatives. There is now but one of her father's family living there.
