My great, great, great grandfather, Aaron Frierson Player, Jr. - Born in 1810, Sumter County, South Carolina. The first of five Player family members to move to the newly opened North West Florida Territory to become original land owners of property in Jackson County, Florida. - Military Service - "Soldiers of Florida in the Civil War", Published in 1903 by Board of State Institutions - "Aaron F Player enlisted in Company F, 6th Infantry Regiment Florida, CSA" and "Biographical Rosters Of Florida's Confederate And Union Soldiers 1861 – 1865" Vol II, by Hartman and Coles, Broadfoot Publishing Company, Wilmington, NC – "He was left sick in Lexington, KY 10/1/62 and captured. He was exchanged 11/15/62 at Vicksburg and died two days later (November 17, 1862) in the City Hospital. He was buried in the local Vicksburg Confederate Cemetery, potter's field grave #333, North West quadrant, division B.
