Rachael Jane Barber, 92, passed away in Fort Worth on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014. Born in Fort Worth, Rachael was the third child of Bert and Alice Barber, founders of Barber's Book Store. Rachael was a graduate of Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth and the University of Texas where she studied journalism. One of the first women to work at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, she spent most of her professional career in advertising and corporate relations for Tandy Corp. and also worked in advertising for the Justin Boot Co.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alberta Sparks; and brother, Bert Barber.
The family would like to express special thanks to the loving care provided by the staff of the James L. West Care Center and Community Hospice.
Survivors: Sister-in-law, Mary Barber; nephew, John Sparks and his wife, Sandy; niece, Diane Sparks; niece, Jeanette Barber; niece, Paula Barber and her husband, Larry Vanderwoude; nephew, Jim Barber and his wife, Sherry; great-niece, Anna Davis and her husband, Brad; great-nephews, Bret Barber and Jack Barber; and several other great-nieces and nephews.
