ALVIS EVIN ALLEN, 97, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Lenora Ann; his loving wife of 64 years, Belva Allen; four brothers and six sisters. Alvis is survived by his daughters, Karen Elaine Ross and husband, Patrick, Brenda Louise Covington and husband, John, Marla Arleen Fikes, Marsha Leigh Johnson and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Michelle Smaistrla and husband, Blake, Michael Ross and wife, Jill, Michael Covington, Tony McNickle and wife, Kelly, Janet Jacobs, Lynn Miller, and John A. Covington; great grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Loubiere, Grayson and Carter Smaistrla, Trevor Robinson, Ashlyn and Taylor Ross, and River McNickle; and a host of other family and friends.

Alvis proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He was the third oldest of eleven children. Alvis was a hard-working and devoted family man that cherished his wife Belva and their four daughters. He maintained excellent health throughout his life and stayed very active. Alvis was affectionately known as “Granddaddy” to his grandchildren and “Poppy” to his great grandchildren and he always looked forward to spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

A visitation for Alvis will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Pat Windham officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
