Eunice Courtade, age 81, of Grandville, passed away on Thanksgiving morning and went to be with her Heavenly Father, Thursday, November 22, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Courtade; her parents, Victor and Ithalia (Scala) Trevisan; and her brother, Edward Trevisan.
Eunice will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dr. Christine Courtade Hirsch, Mark (Ruth) Courtade, Brian (Terry Jo) Courtade, Kathleen (Matthew) Collins, Bruce (Jennifer) Courtade, Mary Therese Courtade; her 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Roy (Mary) Trevisan; her sisters-in-law, Fran (Larry - deceased) Courtade and Eileen (Ed - deceased) Trevisan.
Eunice had a passion for education and served on the North Dearborn Heights School Board as President and the Lawrence School Board. She was involved in the Michigan Association of School Boards and she received honors such as Master Board Member and the Distinguished Service Award. Eunice loved to sew, making theatre costumes, items for family and she was an award-winning doll maker. She also served many years as Church Organist at St. Sabina in Dearborn Heights and St. Mary's Parish in Paw Paw. To keep sharp she enjoyed playing games and working puzzles of all kinds. Eunice loved her cats and enjoyed sharing their company.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 PM Monday, November 26, at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. in Grandville. Fr. Chris Rouech will be officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Paw Paw, MI. In honor of Eunice, contributions may be made to Cambridge Manor Benevolence Fund or Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
