William W. Izell appears on documents in a number of ways. He is listed on his marriage certificate in 1831 in Hancock County, Georgia as "Willis W. Ezell". In the 1850 Census for Township 23, Tallapoosa County, Alabama, he is listed as "William Isell". The United States General Land Office has 2 records for him: January 9, 1851 for 319.6 acres as Indian Allotment General and the sale of 161 acres in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, dated March 1, 1858. Both documents list him as "Willis W. Izell". In the 1860 Census of the Fish Pond area of Tallapoosa County, Alabama, he is listed as "Wilson Isell". Part of the confusion may arise because the letter "z" was written above the line in 19th century script.

He was born about 1807-1808 in Georgia. He married Nancy Gregory 8 August 1831 in Hancock County, Georgia. Benjamin F. Latimer, J.P. officiated.

1. Elizabeth Jane Izell born about 1832 in Georgia. She married Wiley W. Kirkland in 1852 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

2. Frances Izell born about 1835 in Georgia.

3. Sarah Ann Elizabeth OR Grandberry Izell born 17 December 1838 in Hancock County, Georgia AND DIED 30 April 1907 in Texas. She married John Sanders Kirkland 7 August 1860 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

4. Jesse Thomas Izell born 24 September 1840 in Hancock County, Georgia. He married Nancy Jackson September 7, 1865 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. On the marriage record he is listed as "Jessie Ezell". Sometime between January 1870 and October 1874, Jesse married R.S. Jones. No marriage record has been found for the second marriage.

5. William Henry Izell, born 17 July 1844 in Georgia and died 15 May 1911 in Hackett, Sebastian County, Arkansas. He married Susan Adeline Hendrix Lamberth 13 December 1866 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

6. James M. Izell, born abt 1845 in Alabama. He married Mary Ann Carpenter 1 July 1866 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

7. Mary Elizabeth Izell, born 17 January 1851 and died 24 December 1928 in Cordell, Washita County, Oklahoma. She married Alonzo Cicero Carpenter 6 March 1872 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

8. John G. Izell, born 1853 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama and died 30 January in Elmore County, Alabama. He married Annie Taunton in 1882.

9. Margaret A., born December 1856 and died 28 February 1923 in Shelby Alabama. She married William M. Gates 28 September 1882 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
