Graveside services for Ira Beryl Bettis of Gainesville, Texas, were conducted Monday in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville. Officiating was Randall Tyler.
Mr. Bettis was born February 15, 1909, at Abilene, Texas, and died February 5, 1999, in the Gainesville Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. He was the son of Abb Rufus and Nannie Emaline Kelly Bettis.
Mr. Bettis had lived most of his life at Thackerville before moving to Gainesville five years ago. He married Martha McCage on February 14, 1961, at Sherman, Texas. Mr. Bettis was a retired farmer and a well-known fisherman. He was of the Jehovah's Witness belief.
He is survived by a brother, L.T. Bettis of San Antonio, Texas; a brother-in-law, Aubrey Dorn of Houston, Texas; and two nieces, Nannette Walker of San Antonio and Othelia Alford of Houston.
Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his wife on December 6, 1975; and two sisters, Effie Lou Dorn in 1998 and Elizabeth Rone in 1987.
Services were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.
