Opal M. Silvis, 79, of South Bend, formerly of Berrien Springs, died Monday afternoon, October 21, 2013, at St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 25, at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, where friends may visit with the family from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday, October 24.

Opal was born December 30, 1933, in Lepanto, Arkansas, the daughter of George W. and Maggie (Baker) Archer. She married Leonard Silvis and dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, and homemaker.
Survivors include two sons. David (Denise) Yates of Otter Lake, Michigan, and Johnny Mitchell of South Bend; two daughters, Tina (Michael) Balanow of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Patricia (David) Goins of Springfield, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son. Mikel Yates; two granddaughters; one great- granddaughter; two brothers; and four sisters.
