Opal was born December 30, 1933, in Lepanto, Arkansas, the daughter of George W. and Maggie (Baker) Archer. She married Leonard Silvis and dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, and homemaker.
Survivors include two sons. David (Denise) Yates of Otter Lake, Michigan, and Johnny Mitchell of South Bend; two daughters, Tina (Michael) Balanow of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Patricia (David) Goins of Springfield, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son. Mikel Yates; two granddaughters; one great- granddaughter; two brothers; and four sisters.
