Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette for Agnes Elizabeth Dolan DesJardins, 89, who died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Agnes DesJardins died peacefully at home in the company of her family after a long and full life of nearly 90 years. Aggie had an adventurous spirit working for the FBI during WWII and as one of the first stewardesses on a commercial airline. Her love of travel and adventure continued throughout her life. Open and progressive before her time she was more a woman of the 70’s than the 50’s.

Agnes was a devoted mother, always encouraging her children to live fully and authentically. After her children were grown, Agnes worked for the Diocese of Lafayette and was ever faithful to her Church and a member of the Theresians. She was a friend of Bill W. for 39 years, sponsoring many who came to her for guidance and never met a stranger.

One of seven, born in St. Louis to Aloysius and Verda Dolan, Agnes married and eventually settled permanently in Lafayette where she raised her family and established long and cherished friendships. She was ready to see the other side, and we rejoice in her last journey, but she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survived by one sister, Pat Gillin, and by her children: Christine DesJardins, Michael DesJardins (DaVen Lewis), Peggy DesJardins Schoen (David), Tom DesJardins (Monica), Marie Grussing DesJardins, Kathrine DesJardins Bull (Julian). Grandmother to Ian Schoen (Gita) and Matthew Schoen (Katy Russ) , Colin Grussing, (Collin Wade), Tommy, Phillip, Sophia and Michael DesJardins, Malcolm and Peter Bull. And great grandson Declan Schoen.
