Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer on 23 Aug 1849 p2: "Death of Rev. Austin Dickinson---The New York papers of Thursday evening announces the death of Rev. Austin Dickinson, in that city, on Wednesday morning, at the age of 58, of billious diarrhea. Mr. Dickinson has spent no inconsiderable portion of his life in the promotion of enterprises of a benevolent and christian character; but for several years past has been chiefly occupied in circulating religious intelligence through the medium of the secular press. He is the author of the countless letters and scraps of religious and missionary intelligence, which have appeared in the newspapers throughout the country under the signature of A. D. His life was spent in efforts to do good, and his death was peaceful---the death of the righteous."
