Donald Norman Alsworth, Sr., was born May 30, 1921 in Welcome, MN. He graduated high school in Sherburn, MN*. Donald enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he trained as a commando and later became a fighter pilot receiving The Distinguished Flying Cross, The Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, and several other medals.
After being honorably discharged, he became a Bible student at the Moody Bible Institute in San Antonio. He was a self-employed contractor, carpenter, airplane mechanic, and taught notables to fly as a civilian employed by the government at Hondo AFB in Texas. He moved to Oregon in October 1962, working in construction. In 1966, he moved to Alaska and became even more involved with airplanes. His world was airplanes.
Donald considered retirement as "something enjoyed by old folks." He was Pentecostal by faith and read his Bible daily staying in the Word. Donald was an inventor devising among many things a fish wheel ladder and mining equipment. "Donald lived a very austere life but he was determined to get life correct."
Donald is survived by his daughter, Jane Trimmer (Tom-deceased); twin sons, Donald Norman Alsworth, Jr. (deceased) and Michael Whitney Alsworth (Judy-deceased); daughter, Bonnie Irene Turman (Russ); daughter, Rebecca Lynn McNutt; daughter, Wendy Sharon Leigh; grandchildren, Shane Duke, Travis Trimmer, Alex Turman, Jennifer Turman (deceased), Scott McNutt, J.D. McNutt (deceased), Sharon Shibles (deceased), Nicholas Leigh, and Troy Goins; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and long-time friends Walt Arden (Linda) and Hal Campbell.
