Arcanum - Donald A. Barnhardt, 62, of 610 S. Main St., died at 11 p.m. Friday [07 Oct 1983] at Wayne Hospital where he had been admitted earlier that day following a lengthy illness.

Born May 31, 1921 in Greenville, he was the son of the late Ira D. Lloyd and Emma G. Fourman Barnhardt. He had retired in 1975 from Harrison Radiator of Dayton. A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the VFW Post 7262 of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Etta Rush Barnhardt, who died in 1972; and an infant brother, Chalmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Fellers, whom he married May 31, 1980; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Suzanne Gay) Carrington of Greenville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Howard (Pamela) McLain of Arcanum; three stepsons, Roger, Duane and Richard Tegtmeyer, all of Arcanum; sisters, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Kraus of Greenville, Mrs. W.W. (Lucille) Koerner of Huntsville, Alabama, Mrs. Neil (Alice) Foley of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Mrs. Charles (Marcella) Burns of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Wayne Barnhardt of Greenville, and Keith Barnhard of Troy, New York; three grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Zechar Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Reverend Calvin E. Cheek officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery, where graveside services will be conducted by the VFW.

Friends may call from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Arcanum Rescue Squad.
