Died in Texas. Jeff Locknane died Friday, March 7th, at his home in Denton county, Texas, of pneumonia, aged fifty-nine years. He was a native of this county but went to Texas twenty-nine years ago where he has since lived. He leaves a wife, formerly Miss Annie Sneed, of this county, and four sons all grown, and two of them married. One brother, Miles B. Locknane, and four sisters, Mrs. Martha Tapp, Mrs. Nannie Johnson, Mrs. Xantippe Green and Mrs. Julia Eidson, all of this county, survive him. He was a gallant soldier in Morgan's command, being a member of the company commanded by Capt. Levi Wheeler
News of the death of Jefferson Locknane at his home in Lebanon, Texas, on the 7th inst, of consumption reached here Friday. The decased was a native of this county but removed to Texas about twenty-nine years ago. He leaves a wide, formerly Miss Annie Snead, of this county, and four grown sons, Jas W., Milton, Miles Texas and Jesse A Locknane, all of Texas. He was a brother of Miles B Locknane, Mrs. Martha Tapp, Mrs, Nancy Johnson and Xantippe Greene, of this county, and Mrs. Julia Edson, of Lexington. During the Civil War the deseased was a gallant Confederate soldier in Capt. Wheeler's company under Gen. Morgan, and had many friends and comrades here who join with the family in mourning his loss.
