Pedrick J Abbott, partner in plumbing company, dies


A memorial service for Pedrick J. Abbott, a partner in a plumbing company, will be held at 8 pm today at the Ruck funeral establishment, 5305 Harford Road.


Mr Abbott, who was 51 and lived in the 3900 block Sweet Air Road in Phoenix, died Friday at the shock trauma unit at University Hospital after being injured when a car he was working on at home fell on him. Known as Skip, he was a partner in Abbott Brothers Inc.. which does commercial and construction plumbing, for about 20 years. Earlier, he worked for another plumbing contractor.


Born in Broad Top City,Pa, he was raised in Pennsylvania but moved to Baltimore with his family and graduated from City College in 1952. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.


An amateur boxer as a high school student and while serving in the Navy, he was a member of the Baltimore Athletic Club. He was a member of the Park ville post of the American Legion and the Hamilton post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Fond of hunting and fishing, he was a member of the Enola and Blain sportsmen's clubs, both in Pennsylvania.


An amateur wine-maker, he also was a member of the American Wine Society. He is survived by his wife, the former Norma J Pearce; three sons. Dennis A. Abbott, of Baltimore, and Dean A and David A Abbott, both of Cockeysville; two daughters. Sherie A Abbott, of Perry Hall, and Christina E Abbott, of Phoenix, and his brother, Daniel M Abbott, of Baltimore.


The family suggested that memorial donations be made to the Bud Finkelstein Fund of the Baltimore Athletic Club or to the James Lawrence Kernan Hospital.
