Funeral services for Mary Gwendollyn Thomas Brewer, 77, of Rosenberg, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Mr. James House and Mr. Gene Sanford will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., FM 2218 at Highway 59 in Rosenberg.

Gwen was born May 20, 1924 in Fort Worth to Dr. Howell A. Thomas and Mary Ruth Elkins Thomas, and she passed away Feb. 2, 2022 in Rosenberg. She grew up in Aransas Pass and in 1957, she moved to Sinton. Gwen taught school in Sinton, Laredo, and New Braunfels. She moved to Rosenberg in 1967 where she taught at the Robert E. Lee and Jackson schools in the Lamar CISD. She was a member of Avenue N Church of Christ in Rosenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John E. "Bud" Bean, and her sister, Lila Lamont Allen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Col. William C. Brewer of Rosenberg; a daughter, Barbara G. Brown and her husband, Lloyd W. Jr. of Houston; grandchildren, Kelly Leigh Lenz of Houston and Chad Christopher Shimaitis and his wife, Kristin H., of Houston; great-granddaughter, Megan Suzanna Lenz of Houston; step-children, Jack L. Brewer and his wife, Amber R., of Tomball, Bill Brewer and Rhonda of Corsicana, Terri Coleman of Houston, Mike Brewer of Nederland, and Wendy Funk and her husband, Steven, of Austin; nieces, Karen Leah Gayle and her husband, Ralph, of Aransas Pass, and Kathleen Allen Hamilton and her husband, Paul, of Aransas Pass; and other relatives and many friends.
