Mrs. Halter was born March 1, 1911, in Hanover. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Laura (Freidinger) Sterner.
She worked at the former Everybody's Publishing Company in Hanover for 10 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, N.A.R.F.E., American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Halter is survived by two sons, John H. Halter and Charles H. Halter Jr., both of Hanover; a daughter, Shirley M. Bair of Hanover; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Miriam Bortner of Hanover. Mrs. Halter was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.
