Alberta Sorensen, 82

HARLAN - Alberta Dora Sorensen, daughter of Albert and Mae (Eckley) Hack, was born Aug. 26, 1908, at Woodbine. She died July 3, 1991, at age 82 years, 10 months and seven days. As a small child, she moved with her family to Harlan where she graduated from Harlan Community High School.
Dec. 27, 1929, she married Clifford Sorensen at Omaha, NE. They were the parents of three sons. After their marriage, they farmed in the Cuppy's Grove and Harlan areas until 1962, when they retired and moved into Harlan. Shortly thereafter, she became employed in the laundry at the Baptist Memorial Home, and was the manager of the laundry department from 1965 to 1972. She then worked on a part-time basis until 1980, when she retired. In Feb. of 1989, she moved with her husband to the Baptist Memorial Home. After Clifford's death March 18, 1989, she continued to reside in the home until the time of her death. In addition to being a member of the Altamont Baptist Church, she was a member of the SI Club in Harlan, and the Coffee Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Perry, Maynard, Walter, and Charles; one half brother, John Shaw; and a sister, Bessie Quick. Survivors are her sons, Jack of South Sioux City, NE.; Veral of Elk Horn and Lowell of Harlan; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held July 6, 1991 at Pauley Funeral Home with Pastor David Erickson of Altamont Baptist Church and Aaron H. Jones of Christ's Church, officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Brad Sorensen, Brian Sorensen, Brent Sorensen, Scott Sorensen, Randy Sorensen, and Robert Sorensen, casketbearers.
