GIBSONVILLE Mrs. Eudora Jeanette "Maw" Evans Apple, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Duke University Medical Center.The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brian Ayers, pastor and assisted by the Rev. Jim Smyrl and the Rev. Reid Dickens. The burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

She was the wife of Ralph Forrest Apple for 26 years who survives. She was a native of Franklin County and the daughter of the late Robert and Fannie Sherran Evans.

Eudora was retired from Carolina Biological Supply after 39 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a lady who lived out her faith through illnesses and before her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Eudora loved to garden, taking pride in her tomatoes and flowers. She will be remembered by her family for her unique recipes and wonderful homemade biscuits.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Forrest Apple of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Dean Woody of Gibsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Merritt of Mebane; step-daughter, Donna Apple Talbert of Gibsonville; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Elam of Raleigh, Jan Dickerson and Nadine Redmon both of Louisburg; brothers, Richard and Tom Evans both of Raleigh.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond C. Merritt and her parents.

The family will receive friends from 4to 6 p.m. this evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence and the home of her daughter, Connie Woody, 2201 Wagoner Road, Gibsonville, NC .
