Aaron Shroyer
Aaron, formerly of Woodbine Ave., Southport, passed away Sunday June 9, 2002 at Elcor Health Services following an illness at the age of 82. Born on April 27, 1920 in Elmira, NY Aaron was the son of the late Boyd A. Shroyer and Olive Craven Lloyd. He served in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Bronze Service Star. Following the war he was employed as a truck driver with the Teamsters Union Local #529 and retired after 22 years of driving in 1982. Aaron married Kathryn Andrus on May 4, 1957 and they have spent the last 45 years together. He attended the Elmira Wesleyan Church for many years and his many interest included fishing, camping and gardening. .Surviving is his loving wife, Kathryn Andrus Shroyer; their children, Karen & George Shepard of Horseheads; Lecia & Charles Mould of Horseheads; Robin Buckland of Elmira; Julie Shroyer of Southport; an adopted daughter, Tina & Tim Castle of Lowman; Sharon Cox of PA; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale & Pat Shroyer of Horseheads; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce & Reggy Rody San Benito, TX; Lola & Roger Herrick of Southport; a sister-in-law, Helen & Samuel Confer of Ralston, PA; brothers-in-law, Kenneth & Alberta Andrus of Horseheads; Richard Brenza of Horseheads; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Aaron was predeceased by his son, Donald E. Shroyer in 1966 and a sister, Arlene Brenza in 2001. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Wednesday June 12, 2002 from 11AM-1PM. Funeral services will take place in the funeral chapel at Caywood's (1PM) with his pastor, the Reverend Edward Crandall officiating. Full military services will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery performed by the Chemung County Veterans Military Honor Guard.
