Dell served his beloved country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from E.I. DuPont where he worked for over thirty seven years. Dell was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church where he has served as a Deacon. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge.
A quiet man and one might say somewhat stubborn, Dell was one to never say no and was always available. Remembered by family as a nurturer, Dell believed in taking care of his family and always being there. Dell enjoyed tackling home projects and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed figuring out solutions to whatever wasn't working properly. With Dell, as long as it worked he didn't really care about the appearance of the repair.
A service to celebrate and honor Dell's life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Dell is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Broadwell Davis and husband, Timothy; two grandchildren, Tara Daye and husband, Roger, and Lindsay Davis; three great-grandchildren, Cole Kilian, Lara Elaine Kilian and Jesse Bennett Ash; brother, Guerry Broadwell; sister, Ylanta Dixon; and his beloved canine companion, Aslan.
Dell's family will receive family and friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, c/o Sylvan Hardy, 5081 Barber Road, Seven Springs, NC 28578. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
