William T. Ramage, 91, formerly of Manlius, NY, passed away peacefully in Rochester, New York on November 30, 2014. Bill was born July 19, 1923 in Yonkers, New York to William E. and Julia Ramage. He graduated from Yonkers High School in 1941 and went on to proudly serve his country from 1941-1945 in the United States Marine Corps. While with the 4th Marine Division, Bill saw substantial combat action throughout the Pacific Theater, participating in critical actions at Roi Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. After his military service, Bill attended Syracuse University. Bill worked for Syracuse Savings Bank for 37 years, retiring as Senior Vice President in 1986. He was a past president of the Syracuse Chapter of Kiwanis and served as past president of the Syracuse Bond Club. Bill was a devoted 60 year member of Christ Episcopal Church in Manlius. He enjoyed running, walks around Manlius with his wife, gardening, cross-country skiing and square dancing. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his family continue to grow and expand, his proudest achievement. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vilma (Richards); seven children: William (Janis), Lorraine (Kurt Engel), Joanne (Dave Barlow), Thomas (Audrey), Mary (Dennis Rye), Daniel and Steven; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Martha); and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 407 Seneca Street, Manlius. Interment to follow for immediate family at Manlius Cemetery on East Seneca Street. In lieu of flowers, contributions, in his memory, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester New York 14620. The family extends a special thank you for the exceptional care provided by the staff at The Friendly Home, Rochester New York.
