PIONEER PASSES
Mrs. J. Harrison Dead at the Age of Seventy-One

After an illness of less than a week Mrs. Louisa Ellen Harrison aged 71 years, died at her home in North Powder at 10 o'clock, Wednesday morning of this week. Death was due to influenza followed by an attack of pneumonia. Mrs. Harrison, whose maiden name was Roach, was born in Indiana where she spent her girlhood and was married to Jefferson Harrison. In 1879 the couple moved to Missouri, and about seven years later the family came to Oregon and settled near North Powder on the ranch now occupied by O.H. Sloan. After spending nineteen years on this place Mr. and Mrs. Harrison moved to North Powder where they have made their home for the past fourteen years. The aged husband and nine children mourn the loss of the wife and mother. The sons and daughters are Chas. C. Harrison, Mrs. Clara Carnes, Matilda Simonis, George, Ira and Bennett Harrison and Mrs. Myrtle Bauer all of North Powder and Joseph Harrison of McCune, Mrs. Jane Lockin of Haines, all of whom were present at the funeral service. Another son died here about twelve years ago. There are thirty-one grandchildren and five great grandchildren. deceased had been a member of the Methodist church at North Powder for the past twelve years.

Funeral services were held at the home and the city cemetery where the body was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon.
