He was born on May 26, 1946 to the late AJ Burks Sr. and Lena Watson.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leo Watson and sister, Bobbie Johnson.
After attending Rosa Ford High School in Tunica, Mississippi AD worked for Virco Manufacturing, Carrier Corporation, and Lamb and Associates.
AD is survived by his wife, Loretta Burks; children, Marilyn (Ronald) Truesdale of Madison, Alabama, Brenda M. Evans of North Little Rock, Bobby G. Burks of Beebe, Lisa M. Burks of Conway, and Michelle (Cedric) Bogard of Jacksonville, Arkansas; brothers, William Brooks of Memphis, Tennessee and John L. (Linda) Watson of Tunica, Mississippi; sisters, Rosa Wells of Robinsonville, Mississippi, Jerlean (George) Heard of Memphis, Tennessee, Gloria Johnson of Tunica, Mississippi and Margaret Patterson of Tunica, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Savannah Vaughn of Dolton, Illinois; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Burial will follow in the Zion Grove Church Cemetery.
