Anna Mary Pierce Atchley, one of the first women to practice pharmacy in Chattanooga, died Friday, April 30, 1999 and was born October 3, 1917. She was 81.

Mrs. Atchley received her bachelor of science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1939. She was a native of Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School and Ward-Belmont College in Nashville.

She was a member of First Christian Church where she was elected one of the first women elders. She was past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship, a member of the Kemp Sunday School Class, and she was honored as an Elder Emerita.

Mrs. Atchley was preceded in death by her husband, Fielding Atchley.

Survivors include a son; two sisters, Winkie Stroube and Bette Wells and three grandsons.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Phil Summerlin and the Rev. Aline Summerlin officiating. Burial will be at Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, West Chapel.
