George R. Gilmore, 85, of Champaign passed away at 9:56 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Helia Healthcare Center, Champaign.
He was born June 16, 1929 in Bondville to George and Nellie Gilmore. He married Patty Ann Imel on Oct. 24, 1947 in Champaign. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shurl Gilmore; a great-grandchild and a sister, Janet Ivey.
Surviving are a son, Randy Gilmore; a daughter, Susan Hollwedel; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Foltz.
He was employed at the University of Illinois as a truck driver and also farmed part-time. He was a member of the Bondville United Methodist Church.
