Marlin Phares Billman
April 20, 1933 - December 1, 2013

Marlin Phares Billman, 80, of Hillsdale, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. He was born April 20, 1933 in Montgomery, Michigan to A. Franklin & L. Berdena (Young) Billman. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Adair on November 27, 1963. and she survives.

Marlin retired after 28 years from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Jackson and Hillsdale Tool of Jonesville. He was a 4-H Leader, teaching woodworking. He loved his John Deere tractors and also his hobby trains. Marlin enjoyed landscaping & gardening at his home and at one time or another helped to maintain the landscaping at most of the Gow properties. He attended Liberty Bible Church in Pittsford. Marlin also served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.

Surviving besides his wife Carolyn of 50 years are 3 daughters, Connie (Ron) Gow, Cammie (Clarence) O'Dell and Cheryl (Dan) Tarkanyi; 7 grandchildren, Ashlee "Gow' (Eric) Rossman, Alison "Gow" (Tyler) Nye, Breanna, Brittney & Ben Tarkanyi, Justin & Trever O'Dell; and 3 great grandchildren, twins Morgan & Maria Rossman and Savannah Nye; sister Juanita Wilson, brother Harold (Lorain) Billman and a sister-in-law, Arlene Billman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, in-laws, Gayle & Ethel Adair and sister-in-law, Marilyn Charles.

Funeral services for Marlin Billman will be Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Craig Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday from 6-8 pm, at the funeral home.
