At the time of her death, Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud James; son, Rudell James; grandsons, Gerald "Shorty" James and infant grandson; granddaughter, Gwendolyn James; an infant grandchild; great-grandsons, Christopher L. Wilson and an infant great-grandson; great-granddaughter, Christine Elizabeth James; sisters, Mary Victoria (Abston) Lewis and Lula Grace (Abston) Taylor; brothers, John Sidney "Sid" Abston, Henderson Abston, Allen Chub Abston, Jason Abston, Houston Abston, Jack Abston; and half-brothers, Woodrow Abston and Hugh Abston. She was survived by four daughters; three sons; thirty-one grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; two half-sisters; and one half-brother.
