The memorial services of Mrs. Ruth Ramsey Goodrich, 85, of 416 Jolly street, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the J. A. DeMoney & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward S. Vaught, pastor of the Columbia City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Matthew's (Hively) cemetery in Thorncreek township. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Goodrich, the widow of LeRoy Price Goodrich, was found early Wednesday in her bed by a neighbor, Mrs. Mary Magley, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gerald Goodrich, R 4. She was taken to the Whitley County Hospital, where her family physician determined that her death had occurred at 1 a.m. following a stroke. She had bee in failing health for several weeks and had recently undergone surgery.
Mrs. Goodrich was a native of Thorncreek township, born on October 13, 1889 to Charles and Linnie Hively Ramsey, Whitley county pioneers.
She completed her education in the public schools of Thorncreek township and was married on December 24, 1916 at her parents' home to LeRoy Price Goodrich of Thorncreek township. They established their first home in Washington township, where they resided 12 years then moved to Columbia township for 14 years. From there they moved to Larwill, where Mr. Goodrich died May 26, 1951. Following his death Mrs. Goodrich purchased and moved to her home at 416 Jolly street.
She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Surviving are five sons, Fay L. Goodrich, Mishwawaka; Kenneth C. Goodrich, R 7; Gerald E. Goodrich, R 4; Orville E. Goodrich and Clyde D. Goodrich both of South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Zovelda) Andris, Saybrook, Ill. And Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Slater, Duluth, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. John (Hazel) Benner, South Bend; 33 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Two sons, Harold and Keith Goodrich, two brothers, Grover and Walter Ramsey, and a sister, Mrs. Orpha Koester, are deceased.
