Blanche Strawn, a resident of Highland Hospital Extended Care Facility, died July 18, 1992 at the facility following a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1899, in Dekalb County, the daughter of George and Carrie (Greenhow) Hyser. She married William H. Strawn on Oct 11, 1919, in Sycamore. Mrs. Strawn was a member of John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was employed as a seamstress at Gossard Co., in Belvidere. She is survived by one son, Herman (Evelyn) Strawn of Clinton, Wis.; one daughter, Helen Strawn of Belvidere; one sister, Pearl Houk of Genoa, two grandchildren, Sally Dredske and Terry Strawn, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, William; her parents, three sisters, and one brother. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Hom. The Rev. Rex A. Rogers, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
