Albert L. Crabaugh, (92)  of Bucyrus passed away on Monday in the care of the Ashland Hospice House following a serious illness. Albert was born July 10, 1922 in New Washington to the late Fred Albert and Louisa Christine (Loy) Crabaugh. He was married Oct. 20, 1946 to Erma Jean (Geiger) Crabaugh who preceded him in death on Oct. 27, 1997. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother and sister in law Weldon and Goldie Crabaugh, brother in laws Eldon Geiger and Loren Walker, as well as former brother in law Jim Ulmer. Albert is survived by sons Jeffery and James (Ruth Ann) Crabaugh both of Bucyrus; grandchildren Jeff (Deb) Karl of Powell and Kristi (Michael) Samples of Columbus; great grandchildren Abbey, Anna, and Alex; sister in laws Dolores Geiger, Lois Walker, and Ruth Ulmer (Donald) Knappenberger; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Crabaugh lived his entire life in the community and graduated from Sulphur Springs H.S. in 1941. He retired from Galion Iron Works in 1988 after 35 years. Albert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd. and was formerly a Deacon, served on Church Council, and participated in Dartball. He was known as Mr. Fix-it by working on antique tractor engines. Albert also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Albert was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1941-1947. He served on the USS Savannah CL-42 in the Atlantic and the USS Vicksburg CL86 in the Pacific Theatre. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd. with Rev. Hans Scherner officiating, burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or Hospice through the funeral home.
