Rhoades Allen, age 86, passed away on November 23, 2014 in Denton.
Rhoades was born on January 23, 1928 on a ranch in Throckmorton County, Texas, the youngest child of Hill and Johnnie Allen.
He graduated from high school in Goree, TX in 1944 and attended classes at Texas Technological College in Lubbock, TX before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Army in Korea before returning to Texas Tech where he met and married Jean Ratliff in 1949. Upon returning home, Rhoades began a ranching/farming operation with his brother, Taylor in Throckmorton County. Rhoades and Jean made their home in Munday, TX until 1984 at which time they moved to Denton, TX. Rhoades was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Munday and the First United Methodist Church of Denton.

Rhoades is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Allen; and their two daughters: Donna Reeves and husband, Dwight, of Decatur, TX, and Diana Shearer and husband, Kit, of Denton, TX; and son, Gary Allen and wife, Patti, of Krum, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Lois Liles of Throckmorton, TX and brother, Taylor Allen of Munday, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Dana Schmitt, Amy Thayer, Stephen Reeves, Amanda Cox, Kirsten Griffin, Garrison Allen and Julianne Allen; and seven great grandchildren: Dawson Allen, Connor Schmitt, Madelyn Schmitt, Emma Reeves, Abigail Reeves, Brayden Cox and Addison Cox.
Rhoades was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Rex Allen and Mark Allen, and sisters: Jo Moore and Flo Price.
