Deport - Hattie Mae Seals, 87, of Bogata died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in Wood Funeral Home Chapel at Deport with Cecil Allen officiating. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mrs. Seals, 303 2nd SW, Bogata, Friday evening.

She was born July 6, 1909, in Texas, to Henry A. and Emma Underwood Thornton. She married Robert Seals, April 14, 1930. He died Sept. 6, 1961. She had worked for Swift & Co. as an assembly worker.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Aveline and Bobby Masters of Paris; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and James Cooper of Bogata; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Martha Thornton of Hawkins; four grandchildren, Dickie and Bobby Self, Ronda Maxwell and Sue Fuller; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Seals; grandson, Michael Self; brothers, Bill, Joe and Buster Thornton; sisters, Gertrude Lucille Earp, Maggie Lena Armstrong and Zelma Herman.
