Born May 20, 1916, in Alexander County, he was a son of the late William L. and Vanona Deal Harrington.
A member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and served on the building committee, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the engineering division during World War II. A member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 84, in Taylorsville, he was self-employed as a building contractor.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Harrington Sr. and William Harrington; and two sisters, Christine Harrington and Eloise Sparks.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Moose Harrington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie and Wanda Harrington of Hiddenite and Tony Harrington of Taylorsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacque' and Keith Meadows of Taylorsville; four brothers, Lindsay Harrington of Maiden, Olin Harrington and Wayne Harrington of Taylorsville, and David Harrington of Statesville; a sister, Gladys Hayes of Sweet Home, Ore.; four grandsons, Brian Meadows, Bradley Harrington, Chris Meadows and Mark Harrington; three great-grandchildren, Ricky Wiggins, Darion Harrington and Allison Harrington; and a number of nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Craig Hamlin at 4 p.m. today at his church. The body will be placed in the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Taylorsville City Cemetery
