Suggested edit: Augustus S. McCann was a police officer with the City of Miami Police Department. Officer McCann was in pursuit of a speeding truck when his patrol car crashed on September 25, 1928. Officer McCann died from his injuries the following day, September 26, 1928. The speeding truck was never found.
An accurate account of the incident can be found in the book, "Forgotten Heroes, Police Officers Killed In Dade County" by author Dr. William Wilbanks.
