Funeral services were held Saturday for Bennie J. Wells, 70, who died last Thursday in the Veterans Hospital in Dublin following a long illness.
The rites took place at 2:30 p.m. in the Hardwick Baptist Church with the Rev. Quentin Lockwood officiating. Members of the church's Board of Deacons, of which Mr. Wells was a member, served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Wells was for many years was a school teacher.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Blanche Burton; one daughter, Mrs. Charles C. King; two grandchildren, Philip and Carolyn King, all of Milledgeville.
