Bette Faith Boyer Van Beber was born on December 16, 1932 in Miami, Oklahoma to Clarence and Shirley Boyer. She grew up in Miami with her younger brother, Bill. Bette graduated from Miami High School where she was very involved in extra-curricular activities.

She attended Neo A & M Junior College where she met husband, Henry. They married in May 1952 and were happily married for 59 years. They raised four children: Cindy, Nancy, Matt and Greg in Dallas, Texas. Together, Bette and Henry founded a family business in 1969. Upon retirement, they passed the business to their two sons.

During their retirement travels, they fell in love with the San Juan Islands and moved to Anacortes in 1992. Bette quickly became involved in the community where she especially loved serving as trustee for the UMC Anacortes and as president of her local PEO chapter.

Bette passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Henry; her children and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; her brother; and beloved dog, Bear. Bette was everyone's friend and champion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Anacortes.

Memorials may be made to the Gentry House, 1208 7th Street, Anacortes, WA, 98221.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
