Roger married Lynette Erickson on February 14, 1958.
He took pride in farming and his cattle until he retired. He was a Dekalb seed corn dealer for 33 years and awarded Master Sheep Producer of SD. He enjoyed hunting pheasants, deer and gophers with his children and grandchildren. Roger also made a special point to attend his grandchildren’s activities. Roger’s greatest accomplishments were building his family with his wife Lynette.
Roger R. Hersrud, 75, died peacefully at the Brookings Hospital on Friday, November 21, 2014.
Grateful for sharing his life are his five children, Rodney (Trudie) Hersrud, Renae (Jim) Wingert, Lori Hersrud (Lou Beal), Lonna (Monte) Albertson, Darla (Jeff) Lentsch, nine grandchildren and their spouses, Nick Hersrud, Sarah (Wingert) and Charles Jones, Ethan Wingert, Jason and Kaycee Albertson, Chad Albertson, Brian Albertson, Kyle and Laura Lentsch, Kristin (Lentsch) and Barret Trygstad, Korey Lentsch, two great-grandchildren, Makenna Albertson, Alaina Lentsch, brother Michael (Mary) Krantz and sister Joyce (Walt) Jonnes. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Karlene and grandson Ethan.
The family invites you to visitation at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, from 5 – 8 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Memorials may be directed to the Oslo Cemetery, Trent, SD.
