Funeral services for G. W. Birdwell, 82, of Marthaville, LA will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2014 at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Brian Jennings officiating and Bro. Glynn Howard assisting. Interment will follow in Ajax Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 P.M. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the church.

G. W. was a genuine man with a wonderful sense of humor. He always had a smile for everyone and was never at a loss for words. G. W. was dedicated to his family and was loved by everyone. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Mr. Birdwell was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Birdwell; one son, Ryan Dean Birdwell; three brothers, Percy Birdwell, Frank Birdwell, and Johnnie Birdwell; two sisters, Elizabeth “Red” Lindsey and Ella D. Townsend; parents, Tom and Susie Birdwell; and a special friend, “Tobe” Alford.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Birdwell of Coushatta, LA; two sons, Randall Allen “Buddy” Birdwell and wife, Lynn of Liberty, TX and Tom Jefferson “Tommy” Birdwell of Marthaville, LA; one daughter, Jewell Birdwell of Marthaville, LA; two sisters, Gertie Kilgore of Natchitoches, LA and Mae Brown of Ajax, LA; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Randy, Shelby, Crystalin, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Laura; six great-grandchildren, Asjia, Sidney, Jesse, Braleigh, Slaiden, and Brenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jay Ingram, Bronson Ingram, Randy Birdwell, Floyd Townsend, Jackie Birdwell, Sonny Butcher, Jesse Cole, and Ron Byles. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Teasley, Jesse Cole, Slaiden Birdwell, Jimmy Ingram, Johnny Lewis, Gary Kilgore, and Ronnie Byles.
