"Mrs. Catharine Howland Hunt, 95, widow of Rear Adm. Livingston Hunt, of 80 Catherine St., died in a nursing home this morning. She had been ill several years. Mrs. Hunt was born May 21, 1868, in New York, a daughter of Richard Morris Hunt, noted architect, and Catharine Howland Hunt. For many years her parents occupied the Hunt cottage on Bellevue Avenue at Touro and Church Streets. It later became the Hilltop Inn and was removed when the Hotel Viking was built in the 1920's. On July 7, 1892, she was married to Livingston Hunt, whose father at one time had been Secretary of the Navy and Ambassador to Russia. Admiral Hunt, who became a writer on naval history, was a pay director. He died in Newport in 1943. Mrs. Hunt was a member of Trinity Church. She leaves a niece, Mrs. Worthen Paxton of Port Chester, N.Y. A son, Livingston Hunt Jr., died suddenly here in 1953. The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Church, with the Rev. Lockett Ford Ballard, rector, officiating. Burial will be in the Island Cemetery."
