Thomas E. Culkin, 59, Fairbury died at 1:30 pm Friday, November 21, 2014 in rural Lenox Twp., Warren County, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Forrest with Pastor Corrine Blissard officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Twp. Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Wednesday at the church. The family suggest memorials be given to SELCAS or the Brian Munz Safety Complex, both in Fairbury.

Tom was born June 25, 1955 in Fairbury, IL the son of Clarence E. and Elizabeth A. Aberle Culkin. He married Mary Lou Meyer on April 25, 1976 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Colfax, IL. She survives in Fairbury, IL.

Tom was a Proud Papa to 6 grandchildren: Aidan, Nolan and Mason Jenks, Adeline, Lydia and Eli Kilgus. His 7th grandchild Baby Barsema is due in February. He has 2 sisters, Diane (John) Hoke, Carbondale, IL and Teresa (Steve) Flury, Wilmington, NC.

He is preceded in death by his mother and 1 brother, Michael Culkin.

Tom was a 1973 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing high school and received his Automotive Technology degree from Parkland Community College, Champaign. He formerly owned and operated C & S Service Center, Forrest, Culkin Automotive, Fairbury and currently was employed at Popejoy Plumbing and Heating, Fairbury. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Forrest, the Rustic Auto Antique Car Club, currently served on the SELCAS board of directors and had volunteered for the FSW Fire Department.

Tom was a true American who loved his country, church, old cars, hunting and most of all his family.
