She married Ronald Nelson in 1969. After working at the Solano County Health Department for 18 years, she decided to go back to school and get her nursing degree. At her graduation from nursing school, her teacher introduced her as the “one who would run the entire state hospital.”
In her younger years, she enjoyed target shooting and antiquing on trips to Kansas to visit grandparents. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. For those rare exceptions when a plant wouldn’t grow, she found out the reason from books, as she was a voracious reader. She loved to buy clothes, even if she didn’t wear them or need them. Sometimes, she had doubles or triples depending on color choices.
During her life, she had many dogs and loved them all, but none were as special as her last one, Abby. They could be found in every dog park and walking trail in Napa on their multiple daily walks. At Aimee’s request, no services are planned.
