Michael “Mike” Anthony Dean, 53, of Ann Arbor, Mich., passed away Nov. 19, 2014, after a 10-year battle with cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their sons, Jason and Noah.

Mike was born in Wyandotte, Mich., in 1961 to Louise Hensley Dean and Joseph H. Dean Jr.

He graduated from Schafer High School in 1979 and Stanford University with a B.S. in computer engineering in 1982. He worked for 30 years at what is now Raytheon BBN Technologies, the last 20 of which were as a telecommuter from homes in Portland, Spokane and Ann Arbor. Mike enjoyed traveling, hiking, geocaching and spending time with his family.

Mike’s family will receive friends at Nie Family Funeral Home, Liberty Road Chapel, 3737 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, Mich., on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A further service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Church of Solsburg, west of Elkton, Va., with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton, Va.
