Luan L. Yates was born on June 4, 1944 in Carrington, N.D. to Avil and Gertrude (Hogart) Groskruetz. She married Larry A. Yates on April 3, 1961. Luan worked for Simmons Food Service of Southwest City, Mo. for twenty years. She had lived in Grove for twenty two years coming from Wichita, Kan. Luan was very involved with her family, especially her grandchildren. She frequented yard sales and loved to garden. She enjoyed the planning of her annual Easter and September family reunions.
Survivors include: her husband, Larry of Grove; two sons, Allen Yates and George Yates, both of Grove; two daughters, Leann Turner of Mulvane, Kan., and Tammy Griffith of Grove; one brother, Gary Groskruetz of Nowata, Okla., 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Guymonm on July 16, 2003 and two brothers, Harold and Jimmy Groskruetz.
The family will recieve friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home in Grove. Funeral
Services will held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Grove with Rev. Bob Shambles officiating. Burial will follow at Roundmound Cemetery near Cedar Vale, Kan. at 3:00 p.m.
