He was born in the Weirgor Township of Sawyer County on Aug. 16, 1917, a son of Joseph and Agnes Rosmos Suzan. As a young man, he left to find work in Chicago. It is there that he met his future wife, Irene M. Mansky. He then went off to war. He served in World War II as a sergeant with the 335th Engineer General Service Regiment from August 1942 to November 1945. During his wartime service, he traveled in Africa, Corsica, France, Italy and Germany. Upon returning from the war, he went to work in Guam. He returned to marry Irene in Exeland on Aug. 24, 1946. He also worked in Alaska. He and Irene lived in Oregon for a time, then settled in Radisson as dairy farmers until retiring in 1980. After they retired, they enjoyed traveling and activities with their families. Irene died on Aug. 2, 2013.
Frank is survived by three children, Dennis (Sandy) of Radisson, Bruce (Sheryl) of Park Falls and Shelley (Jack) of Radisson; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Vicky Kinnear of Ladysmith; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters, Henry, Joseph, Ben, Estelle Oleszkiewicz, Agnes Kiwlosz, Frances Goldbeck, Josephine Applebee and Mary Suzan.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 14, at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson with Fr. Patrick Hardy and Deacon Jim Frederick officiating.
Visitation was held at the Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Bruce on Thursday evening and at the church on Friday prior to the service.
Burial was in The Windfall Cemetery in Exeland, with military burial rites provided by the Exeland American Legion.
