Penny was a school teacher for 35 years in Wood County teaching at Franklin Junior High and Hamilton Junior High. She was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. She was active in the community volunteering for the Red Cross as a water safety instructor teaching swimming.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie Lynn Bennett; two daughters, Jenny Lynn Phillips (Chris) of Covington, VA and Sara Elaine Todd (Andy) of Chesterfield, VA; one son, William Atkinson Bennett of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Ben and Carly Phillips; and one sister, Janice Rowan (Kenny) of Lowell, OH.
The funeral service will be Thursday, November 20, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Joseph Busch officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
